The San Francisco 49ers, who clinched a Super Bowl berth last season, have missed a playoff appearance this year after a season marred by injuries, setbacks and disappointments. While the fans brace for an early offseason, the team’s owner, Jed York, is emphatically backing head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.
Both will return next season, York confirmed to The San Francisco Standard before the 49ers' game against the Detroit Lions on Monday night.
"They’re not going anywhere," York said.
Shanahan led the team to two NFC Championship appearances and one Super Bowl during his tenure since 2017.
Like York, Shanahan has also dismissed any such rumors.
"I don't want to be any place in the world more than here," the 49ers asserted earlier this month.
