In a recent quarterfinal matchup at the World Juniors, Team Canada faced a significant setback when forward Cole Beaudoin was ejected from the game for kneeing Czechia forward Petr Sykora.
The incident occurred just over ten minutes into the first period, and Beaudoin received a major penalty and a game misconduct. The penalty call sparked discussions among analysts and fans alike.
TSN hockey broadcaster Bob McKenzie expressed his disagreement with the decision, stating that he believes the hit did not warrant a major penalty, and he even questioned whether it should have been penalized at all.
"Not only do I not think it was a major, I'm not even sure it was a penalty. I mean, if you watch the one angle from up high on the play by play, he gets spun around and goes down, and he's holding his knee holding the back of his hamstring, actually, but on that play right there that is a center pass hit right through the chest. His left knee was between Sykora's legs," McKenzie said.
