Cartagena will face Leganes at the Cartagonova on Sunday in the last 32 of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey campaign. The home side have endured a difficult season in the Spanish second tier so far and will hope a change of scenery can spur a change of fortune in the new year.
They locked horns with Beasain in their Copa del Rey opener back in October and picked up a narrow 1-0 victory, with Luis Munoz coming off the bench to score a late winner. They then beat Andorra by the same scoreline in the next round of the competition, finding the back of the net with their only shot on target.
Leganes, meanwhile, faced Ciudad de Lucena in the first round of the cup and won 2-1, with Munir El-Haddadi and Juan Cruz getting on the scoresheet in either half. They were drawn against Estepona in the second round, playing out a 2-2 draw against the fourth-tier club before ultimately winning the tie on penalties.
