Saquon Barkley is on the cusp of breaking an NFL record. In the blowout win against the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles put up 41 points on the scoreboard vs the Cowboys' 7. Barkley, who has taken the league by notice since he signed with the Eagles, recorded 2,000+ rushing yards this year, becoming only the ninth player in the entire history of the league to achieve this feat.
But he's onto another record. One that would make him the only NFL player to do so. If he manages to rush for 101 yards more in the final game of the regular season, that too against his former team and divisional rivals, the New York Giants, he will surpass Eric Dickerson as the player with the most rushing yards in a single season.
But Nick Sirianni is not sure if he wants to risk his star running back in a game that would not affect their playoff seeding at all. A win or a loss wouldn't change anything, but should Barkley get injured during the final game, it might put their postseason in jeopardy.
