David Wright makes his feelings known on loyalty and legacy as a Mets player

On Monday, the New York Mets announced legend David Wright's famous number 5 jersey would be retired on July 19, and the 42-year-old will be inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame.

Wright spoke to SNY, talking about the special feeling of performing at a high level for the Mets for so many years.

"Losing in a Mets uniform for me was devastating, but winning in a Mets uniform for me was sweeter than anything else that I could possibly imagine, because of the trials and tribulations of having gone through everything [with the team]. Being a Met for life meant more to me than a mercenary-type player." David Wright said
