Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is reportedly worried about the amount of minutes midfielders Enzo Fernández and Moises Caicedo have played this season. This is according to journalist Simon Phillips (via Caught Offside).
The partnership between Fernandez and Caicedo has been formidable this season and Maresca is worried their consistent usage could lead to fatigue. The report claims that Maresca has urged the Blues' hierarchy to reinforce the midfield in the ongoing January transfer window.
Despite having Romeo Lavia, Carney Chukwuemeka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Cesare Casadei as midfield options, Maresca is reportedly looking to sign a new player. Lavia has been the Blues' third-choice central midfielder this season, but has struggled with injury issues.
