The Sacramento Kings fired coach Mike Brown on Friday, adding to their extensive list of coaching casualties under owner Vivek Ranadive. Afterward, ex-Kings coach George Karl called out Ranadive for his lack of organizational stability.

Upon being hired by Sacramento in 2022, Brown was hailed for reversing the team's fortunes in his first season (2022-23). He led the franchise to a 48-34 record, good for a top-three seed in the Western Conference, ending its 16-year postseason drought. In doing so, he secured his second NBA Coach of the Year award.

Despite missing the playoffs last season, Brown guided the Kings to another winning record (46-36). Nevertheless, the veteran coach was seemingly on a short leash to begin this season, as he was axed Friday following his squad's 13-18 start.
