Tiger Woods has won fifteen majors in his career, but none was as dominating as his 2000 US Open victory. This was his first win at the event, and he set a record that still stands to this day.
The 100th edition of the US Open took place from June 15 to 18 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. Woods entered the tournament week in great form, having made six consecutive top-five finishes and recording two wins, including one at the Memorial Tournament, his last start before the event.
Tiger Woods started the week with a 65 to take a one-shot lead, but his second-round 67 stretched the lead to six strokes. With a third-round 71, the lead increased to 12 strokes, and he finished at 12-under after a final-round 67 to beat Ernie Els and Miguel Ángel Jiménez by fifteen strokes.
