All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman is yet to be signed while other free-agent infielders continue to get inked. The latest is the signing of former Yankees star Gleyber Torres who signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Detroit Tigers.
This signing potentially takes out another team from Bregman's sweepstakes as with each day passing by, the infielder market is getting short for Bregman and even first baseman Pete Alonso. Both of them are represented by Scott Boras, who has helped other free agents like Juan Soto and Blake Snell secure big-money deals in the offseason.
Expressing his views on Talking Baseball, former MLB star Trevor Plouffe shared enthusiasm for the Torres acquisition but voiced concern about its potential impact on Detroit's pursuit of Alex Bregman.
