“It got bad…they were totally tearing into me”: When Pete Alonso was ‘upset’ by roommates trying to ruin his relationship with then-girlfriend Haley

Pete Alonso met his wife, Haley while he was playing in the Cape Cod League back in 2015. The two quickly hit it off, but, Alonso was enrolled at the University of Florida and Haley was enrolled at Michigan State.

To make the relationship work, it had to be long-distance. This was something the couple were willing to try, but it came with some hard kickback from Alonso's roommates.

Alonso's roommates would constantly badger him about the relationship. It eventually got to him, and he could not take it anymore, via ESPN's Buster Olney.

"It got bad to where they were totally tearing into me about it. And then I was really upset," said Alonso.
