The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without Jake McCabe on Tuesday night when they take on the Flyers in the second half of a home-and-home series in Philadelphia. Sunday night saw the Maple Leafs defeat the Flyers 3-2 in overtime, courtesy of Morgan Rielly.
It was an extremely physical contest in which the two teams combined for 76 hits. Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe and Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway fought. Hathaway got the better of McCabe, who fell to the ice and appeared to have suffered an upper-body injury. The bruising Toronto defenseman left the game and did not return. He was then placed on IR the following day.
Leafs coach Craig Berube was asked about Garnet Hathaway and whether he emphasizes ensuring he doesn't get into his players's heads.
