Jonathan Quick is set to step in for injured New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin. Shesterkin was hurt after a hit from Ryan Lindgren and a crash from Sam Bennett during a game against Florida. Shesterkin, who signed an eight-year, $92 million contract in December, will miss at least seven days.
Quick is confident that Shesterkin's absence will not impact the team.
“It doesn’t change the game plan, right? No matter who is in the lineup, who is out of the lineup, we do everything we can to prepare for the game [Thursday] night,” Quick said. “Go to work.”
Quick is in the midst of a one-year contract with the Rangers worth $1.275 million. He has struggled in recent games. After starting the season 4-0 with two shutouts, he has a 4.00 goals-against average and a .855 save percentage in his last five games.
