Leafs’ captain Auston Matthews back on ice for practice after long injury absence

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews was back practicing with the team on Monday morning for the first time since re-aggravating his upper-body injury. Matthews has missed the last four games due to the ailment, combining to be sidelined for a total of 13 games this season.

Matthews has recorded 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in the 24 games he's been healthy enough to play in so far during the 2024-2025 campaign. Although his production this season hasn't been quite up to his lofty standards, the Maple Leafs will surely welcome his return to the lineup as soon as possible. The team and their fans received some good news on their best player on Monday.

Maple Leafs reporter and journalist David Alter shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the superstar Center was staying on the ice to practice with the team.
