Marbella will host Atletico Madrid at La Rosaleda on Saturday in the last 32 of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey campaign. The home side have had their struggles in the Spanish third tier this season but will break from that this weekend as they begin the new year with a cup tie against one of the nation's best.
They were drawn against Berganitinos in their cup opener back in October and picked up a 2-1 win, with Dorian Hanza scoring a first-half brace in the process. They then beat La Liga 2 side Burgos 1-0 in the second round of the cup, with Jorge Alvarez coming off the bench to score a late winner for the Blanquillos.
Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, ended 2024 in outstanding form and will be looking to carry that momentum into the new year. They beat Cacerano 3-1 in their cup opener last month, sitting a goal down with less than 10 minutes to play before goals from Clement Lenglet and Julian Alvarez helped them secure a late win for the Rojiblancos.
