The mixed team golf event is being seriously considered for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Golf became part of the Olympics in 1900, but it was only held twice, in 1900 and 1904, before being canceled.
The sport finally returned to the Olympics in 2016 and has been part of the Games in the last three consecutive editions. However, only men's and women's individual golf events currently take place in the prestigious sporting events.
Recently, International Golf Federation Executive Director Anthony Scanlon provided an intriguing update, stating that they are seriously considering having a mixed team golf event in the 2028 Olympics. In his recent interview with NBC Olympics and Paralympics, Scanlon was asked if the IGF was serious about the mixed golf event in the Olympics, to which he replied:
