The New York Mets and Pete Alonso still seem to be in a deadlock over a new contract in free agency. With Alonso and his agent Scott Boras also not looking to budge, New York might be tempted to look at other options.
Rumors have swirled of another star infielder, Alex Bregman, over a potential move to the Mets this offseason. But, per Mets insider, Andy Martino, Bregman's Mets deal is highly unlikely.
"A lot of smoke around the name Alex Bregman, really with both New York teams, because it's a big name, but I find it almost impossible to see Bregman signing with the Mets unless it's the kind of one-year or very short-term thing" Martino said.
