Alex Bregman remains in the free agency market, with Spring Training just over a month away. A few teams are in contention to sign his services, including the Boston Red Sox, who are yet to sign a quality at-bat this offseason.
Former Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden, on the Baseball is Dead podcast, explained what the Red Sox could do to lure Bregman. As per the panelists, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Tigers have an advantage in the sweepstakes, as they are willing to spend, having not added any major names this offseason.
The one place where Braden says Boston could stand out is if they get Bregman to become more competitive. Both the Blue Jays and the Tigers are on the same level as the Red Sox when it comes to past records, therefore, for the 3B, it might be a matter of which team offers him a better winning chance.
