Monza lock horns with Cagliari in Serie A
Monza will entertain Cagliari at Stadio Brianteo in their first Serie A match of the year on Sunday. The Brianzoli are at the bottom of the league standings with 10 points, four fewer than the 18th-placed visitors.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last 11 games across all competitions and concluded 2024 on a five-game losing streak. They played Parma in their previous outing and fell to a 2-1 away loss. Pedro Pereira had equalized in the 85th minute but Lautaro Valenti scored the match-winner for Parma in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
Gli Isolani have also suffered five consecutive defeats, failing to score in four games during that period. They hosted defending champions Inter Milan in their previous outing and suffered a 3-0 loss. After a goalless first half, Inter scored thrice after the break.
