NFL insider highlights interesting trick Jets pulled in Mike Vrabel interview (image credit: getty)
When most NFL head coaches are let go, fans usually get some form of indication that their time is up. When Mike Vrabel and the Tennessee Titans parted ways last summer, the news caught fans by surprise. Considering that the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick also parted ways, the widely held belief was that Vrabel would land with the franchise where he won three Super Bowls in eight years.
Fast forward to 2025, Vrabel is still a free agent. He spent most of 2024 with the Cleveland Browns as a coaching and personnel consultant. His contract expired at the turn of the new year, leaving him free to be interviewed by other NFL teams.
He did not have to wait long to land one. The New York Jets invited Vrabel on Friday to sort out their coaching position for the year.
NFL insider Peter Schrager believes the Jets pulled out all the stops to convince Vrabel to coach the franchise next season.
