The Carolina Hurricanes appear hungry to make a splash ahead of the 2025 NHL trade deadline. Several weeks ago Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said the Hurricanes were plotting big swings both up front and in goal. It sounds like one of those big swings could involve a $92,800,000 disgruntled Vancouver Canucks star.
It's been made clear in recent days that the Canucks are listening to trade offers on Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller. It would make plenty of sense for the Carolina Hurricanes to get in the mix to acquire either of their services.
Insider Chris Johnston spoke on TSN's Insider Trading segment Tuesday evening. He brought up the Carolina Hurricanes as a suitor for Elias Pettersson:
"Just given the magnitude of a trade potentially involving either these players, and obviously the marketplace in Vancouver has been hot, but in speaking with sources around the league, what I can tell you is there's a strong sense that trade conversations remain active on both Pettersson and Miller with rival teams at this point in time. ...
