Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy beat LIV Golf’s Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau on Tuesday to win The Showdown. The PGA Tour pros garnered the 2.5 points to clinch victory at the exhibition event hosted by crypto.com in Las Vegas. The golfers bagged a combined $10 million in cryptocurrency for the win.
For the unversed, a section of golf fans were confused about the PGA x LIV Showdown’s prize system ahead of the contest. Now, Scheffler has come out to join the fans in questioning the award. Having received $5 million in crypto as the prize for beating LIV rivals, the World No.1 golfer said he doesn’t ‘know a whole lot about Crypto.’
The Masters champion, who earned a whopping sum of around $60 million in prizes this year, said he’ll need to do ‘some research’ regarding crypto now. He joked about calling Crypto.com CMO Steven Kalifowitz later to ‘figure it out.’
