Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta
The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal will not be active in the ongoing January transfer window. These statements may not please Gunners fans, who are desperately hoping for reinforcements, with the team in a Premier League title race.
At the moment, the north Londoners are second in the league standings, six points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand. Multiple pundits, including Paul Merson, have suggested in recent times that Mikel Arteta's team are lacking a proper number nine.
Despite these suggestions, Ornstein said on The Athletic FC Podcast (via The Boot Room):
“I think by and large that they are going to go with what they’ve got, which again will not be music to the ears of many fans who are baying for signings as Arsenal look to compete for a trophy that many feel Arteta needs to deliver or face some pressure.
