NHL legend Wayne Gretzky's eldest son, Ty once opened up about the relentless comparison between his hockey skills and those of his father, as well as the scathing criticism he faced for not living up to his four-time Stanley cup winning father's legacy.

In a 2006 Interview with The NY Times, a then-15-year-old Ty Gretzky shared his thoughts, saying:

“I get smack-talked all the time on the ice from other players.”He continued, “Just like, ‘I thought you were going to be a lot better,’ stuff like that.”

Ty in the interview spoke about the constant scrutiny and comparisions to his father, Wayne Gretzky, famously known as "the Great One", and widely regarded as the greatest hockey player in the history of professional hockey.
